Appointments & Fees

The Gympie Clinic is a private billing clinic. Our fees are based on the time and complexity of each appointment. If you are unsure of the length of appointment you require, please do not hesitate to ask our reception team. Fees are payable at the time of consultation by cash, credit card or EFTPOS. You can claim your Medicare refund immediately by using your Eftpos card.

Fees for standard appointment as at April 15 2024*.

Standard Appointment (6min-15min), Fee $98.00, Medicare Rebate $41.40

A standard appointment is 15 minutes and generally covers one patient with one health concern.

Long Appointment (20min - 40min), Fee $160.00, Medicare Rebate $80.10

Long Appointment (>40min) Fee $240.00, Medicare Rebate $118.00

A long appointment is recommended for more complex needs, counselling and new patients to the clinic to allow the doctor to take an accurate and detailed history.

Health Care Card holders and pensioners may be offered a reduced rate.

Please ensure your Medicare card details are up to date.

Patients with outstanding accounts will not be able to book future appointments until accounts are settled. If you fail to make payment on your account, your debt may be passed to a debt collector appointed to recover your outstanding amount. Late fees will also apply for accounts 14 or more days overdue.

Telehealth Consults

We offer both telephone and video consultations for patients. Patients are able to access most services with video consultation. For video consultation, patients access a virtual waiting room with a device that has a working camera and microphone. Once the doctor is available, they will invite you to start the consultation from the virtual waiting room. The link to the virtual waiting room is as follows.

Telephone consultations have less flexibility with Medicare and are more limited. Please be advised that medicare restrictions exist for longer telephone consults and as such these may attract a higher out of pocket charge. A doctor will call you on your listed number to start your telephone consultations.

Both video and telephone consultations are treated as a normal appointment and may attract an out of pocket fee. You may receive a call from our reception team following your consultation to process payment and organise follow up.

Script Requests

For repeat prescriptions, you may call through to the clinic for your request. Doctors have dedicated time for prescription requests. These requests are at the doctor’s discretion. Doctors may call you, usually during or after their consultation sessions to provide a prescription via telehealth. Alternatively, you may be charged a $25.00 fee charged upon pick up of the script if there has been no consultation. All requests will have a two business day turnaround.

We also offer e-scripts to our patients via SMS or email.

Our policy for all Schedule 8 and certain Schedule 4 medications is that patients will require an appointment to ensure safe prescribing. If you have not had an appointment at the clinic in the previous 6 months to your script request, you will be required to book an appointment with your Doctor.

Parking

Limited parking is available on site. Off-street car parking is available behind the surgery building.

Do not park on the median strip at the front of the clinic or in the Ambulance bay located in the front of the building.

Couriers - please park at the back of building.

Gympie Aged Care Assistance

We are committed to helping our elderly patients. We perform regular visits to nursing homes in the Gympie area for patients who are unable to access the clinic.

Reminder System

Our practice is committed to preventative care. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health devices appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system please let us know at reception.

Home Visits / After Hours Service

Home visits may be available for patients of the Practice who are unable to get to the Surgery. This is at the discretion of your doctor. If you feel you require a home visit, please phone the Surgery and discuss this with reception.

The Gympie Clinic has after-hours care (outside of Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm) provided by the company House Call Doctors. This is a telehealth service available to patients eligible for Medicare benefits. The number for this service is 13 55 66.

Missed Appointments

All patients who fail to attend their booked appointment will be charged a Non-Attendance Fee. This fee is not refundable from Medicare and is based on the time booked for your appointment. Further appointments will not be able to be booked until payment is received. If you fail to make payment on your account, your debt may be passed to a debt collector appointed to recover your outstanding amount. Late fees will also apply for accounts 14 or more days overdue.

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please make the effort to cancel within a reasonable timeframe.

Privacy Policy

The Doctors and staff believe the confidentiality of your medical records is of paramount importance. Our Privacy Policy (in line with Australian Privacy Principles legislation) is available HERE.

The patient acknowledges and agrees that the receipt of SMS is not guaranteed, may sometimes be delayed and may depend on various factors.
